World Silver Survey – 2013 record demand

Total silver physical demand rose 13% in 2013 to hit an all time high of 1,081 million ounces.  Whilst industrial demand, which represents about half of global demand, stayed relatively flat, jewellery and silverware demand was up 10% and we have reported at length previously about the record investment bars and coins demand last year.  Early signs are that 2014 has seen this trend continue with demand having risen in the first quarter.  The following graph tells the story…
