The Perth Mint is proud to present these beautifully crafted gold bullion coins to celebrate the Year of the Goat, the eighth of twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar.

According to Chinese tradition, the emperor held a great race to determine who should occupy 12 positions in the lunar calendar. In pursuit of the seventh-placed horse, the gentle and determined goat travelled alongside the monkey and the rooster. As they approached the finish line, the trio worked together to cross a wide river. Leading the way, the goat reached the other side and crossed the line to claim eighth place.

Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Goat in 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every 12th preceding year are said to be gentle, creative, and compassionate. Known for their calm nature and resilience, they are often admired for their artistic talents and thoughtful approach to life.

The reverse of each coin portrays a mature goat, a young goat and a baby goat grazing peacefully. The image embodies the auspicious phrase “Three Goats Bring Bliss” symbolising the end of winter and the arrival of spring, the renewal of all things and prosperous new beginnings. Featured in the design is a plum blossom tree representing purity, resilience and hope. Also included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘Goat’, the inscription ‘GOAT 2027’, as well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

No mintage limit applies to the 10oz, 2oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, and 1/20oz coins. However, production of these coins will close at the end of 2026 when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. The Perth Mint will produce no more than 30,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first. Due to the low mintage of the 1oz size it is highly sought-after and is sure to sell out fast.
