The Perth Mint is proud to present these magnificent silverbullion coins to celebrate the Year of the Goat, the eighthof twelve animals associated with the Chinese lunarcalendar. 

According to Chinese tradition, the emperor held a greatrace to determine who should occupy 12 positions in thelunar calendar. In pursuit of the seventh-placed horse, thegentle and determined goat travelled alongside themonkey and the rooster. As they approached the finish line,the trio worked together to cross a wide river. Leading theway, the goat reached the other side and crossed the lineto claim eighth place.

Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Goat in2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every 12th precedingyear are said to be gentle, creative, and compassionate.Known for their calm nature and resilience, they are oftenadmired for their artistic talents and thoughtful approachto life.

The reverse of each coin portrays a mature goat, a young goat and a baby goat grazing peacefully. The image embodiesthe auspicious phrase “Three Goats Bring Bliss” symbolising the end of winter and the arrival of spring, the renewal ofall things and prosperous new beginnings. Featured in the design is a plum blossom tree representing purity, resilienceand hope. Also included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘Goat’, the inscription ‘GOAT 2027’, as well as ThePerth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

No mintage limit applies to the 1 kilo, 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz coins. Except for the 1 kilo release, production of these coinswill close at the end of 2027 when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. The Perth Mint will produceup to 300,000 1oz coins. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichevercomes first. Due to the low mintage of the 1oz size it is highly sought-after and is sure to sell out fast.
